CKC StART LED Light Graffiti Recap!
Last night CKC StART Street & Urban Arts presented a night of LED Light Graffiti Success! Thank you to everyone who came. All guests who came to visit the art exhibition called Second Seating, were handed supplies to construct their very own led tool to play with for the night. Towards the close of the evening everyone grouped outside for a final throw to create an outdoor LED light graffiti art installation! At the count of FIVE the party installed about 200 leds onto the metal warehouse building where Second Seating will remain open until November 7th. Please drop by the exhibition if you appreciate East End's creative minds and art made from found objects and recycled goods. Thank you Mary Margaret Hansen for having us at your place!

Hogg M.S. in The Heights

Friday June 5th, Gonzo and I volunteered our time to help HOGG Middle School prepare for Impact Day (Park Renovation Project). Deloitte Volunteers came and helped make the school's Spark Park get the finishing touches with landscaping, garden tending and more.
Gonzo and I directed the Mosaic art project portion. It was fun!

2009 Update!
Everyone, the summer is already here! We'd like to continue to update everyone on how CKC StART has developed, as well as future plans.
In immediate news! CKC StART Street & Urban Arts teamed up with Art League Houston to provide a class for the 2009 Summer Program. Please follow this link to check it out! www.artleaguehouston.org

At the close of our Student Exhibition in January we immediately started brainstorming on workshops and more.
CKC StART worked with The Art Colony and Capital One Bank on a couple mosaic benches which were donated to Eastwood Academy's Spark Park.
In addition, Hogg Elementary and Spark Park needed some mosaic artwork. We have begun this project and hope to be complete soon. Hogg is also holding a volunteer day where a group has donated their time to help mosaic the Spark Park entryway gates. Gonzo247 and CKC StART will be volunteering time, design and direction on Friday, June 5th. Please let me know if you or your kids would like to help mosaic either that date or another time?
We have completed Street & Urban Workshops for Kipp Academy, Eastwood Academy and did a 5th grade graduation project for Travis Elementary.
CKC StART spent some time consulting with TALA, Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts in hopes to become a non-profit. Should everything go well we should hit this goal by the end of the year.
We plan to have more summer workshops if you are not able to sign up for The Art League Program. However, the great thing about The Houston Art League is that it's about four workshops in one!

If you are interested, we are planning to offer workshops at Aerosol Warfare Gallery which will include a Stencil Art Making Workshop, and Spray Paint Techniques. These will be 1 day workshops for four hours. $ 45 will be the price for each workshop. Please visit our website and feel free to contact us with any questions.
By the way .....Adults enjoy these too!!!
Thanks for your time and have a wonderful summer!

We were a part of Spacetaker's WHAM.
ARC Blogger: It's fast-paced and fun- with a DJ on Friday night, live music with PeteSimple on Saturday night, and jazz guitar on Sunday. Jerry's Artarama will have children's painting activities throughout the weekend, and there will be live demonstrations from several local artists like FetoSoap and Aerosol Warfare -vs- CKC start. Furthermore, there's an open bar and food from Beaver's on Friday and Saturday nights.
The Winter Holiday Art Market, a 3-day event, is held to give artists an economic engine to grow their markets and sell their work at a time of year when additional revenue is often needed. This annual event generates opportunities for artists to engage the public in a festive atmosphere and to have their artwork seen by a large and diverse audience. Everything from jewelry to paintings to sculpture is available for purchase. There will be live musical performances and light refreshments all three days of the event. The diverse art offerings brought together, at one event and one location, offer the Houston public a unique setting that highlighted the extraordinary and varied Houston art scene.
